Door delivery planned around the postcode
China-to-Australia Address Delivery
Private and business address delivery in Australia allows cargo from China to move beyond the airport, port or depot and continue to the final residential or commercial location. This solution can cover small cartons, consolidated sea freight, pallets and other eligible cargo after customs clearance.
Australian delivery is not one uniform zone. The same shipment can have a different local-delivery cost depending on the postcode, whether the address is residential or commercial, whether a forklift is available and whether the driver needs a tail-lift, appointment or manual assistance. ASP Cargo checks these conditions before confirming the route.
Residential and commercial receiving
Private Address vs Business Address Delivery
Private or residential address
This includes houses, apartments and other non-commercial locations. The carrier may need a contact phone number, safe access, a delivery window and confirmation that the recipient can receive and unload the cargo.
Heavy cartons, pallets and long items can require a tail-lift or a different vehicle. Apartment buildings may require lobby delivery, booking with building management or a nearby collection arrangement.
Business or commercial address
This includes offices, shops, factories, workshops and warehouses. The quote depends on business hours, loading access, forklift availability, dock access and whether the shipment can be delivered as loose cartons or pallets.
Shopping centres, construction sites and controlled-access facilities may require appointments, inductions or delivery references.

Available Air and Sea Delivery Options
Air freight with final-mile delivery
Air freight is suitable for urgent stock, samples, spare parts and commercial shipments where faster movement is needed. Chargeable weight is normally the higher of actual and volumetric weight. After customs processing, the shipment is transferred to a local delivery network or dedicated vehicle.
Sea freight with final-mile delivery
Sea freight can move small consolidated cargo, pallets and larger commercial shipments. Charges may be calculated by cubic metre, weight or a channel-specific minimum. The local-delivery portion must still be checked against the destination postcode and unloading conditions.

Metro, regional and remote areas
Postcode-Based Delivery Coverage
ASP Cargo can review delivery to major Australian metro areas and many regional destinations. Coverage and cost depend on the exact postcode, cargo size and carrier network. A location described as Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth may still fall outside the main metro delivery zone.
| Area type | Typical considerations | Information required |
|---|---|---|
| Metro | Standard carrier coverage may be available, subject to carton or pallet limits. | Postcode, address type, business hours and unloading method. |
| Regional | Additional linehaul, depot transfer or longer delivery arrangement may apply. | Exact postcode, contact person and delivery access. |
| Remote | Remote-area surcharge, limited delivery days or depot collection may apply. | Full address and confirmation of carrier access. |
| Controlled access | Appointment, site induction, booking reference or restricted vehicle access may apply. | Site instructions and receiving contact before dispatch. |
Equipment and access
Tail-Lift and Special Delivery Requirements
A tail-lift truck may be needed when the cargo is palletised or too heavy for safe manual unloading and the receiving address has no forklift or loading dock. Long items, machinery, furniture and heavy single pieces can require a crane, specialised vehicle or additional labour.
Tell us whether the recipient has a forklift, pallet jack, loading dock or staff available to unload. Also disclose stairs, narrow roads, height restrictions, underground car parks and limited vehicle access. These details should be confirmed before the cargo leaves China, not after it reaches the Australian delivery depot.
Customs responsibility
DDP vs DDU Address Delivery
Under an eligible DDP solution, the agreed quote includes the stated customs, duty, tax and delivery scope, allowing the shipment to move to the address after clearance. DDP does not mean every commodity can be shipped tax included. Cargo type, value, documents and Australian import requirements must be reviewed.
Under DDU or other importer-managed arrangements, the Australian importer may be responsible for customs clearance, duty, GST and related charges before final delivery. The commercial terms must be understood by both the shipper and receiver.

Common questions
Address Delivery FAQ
Can you deliver freight to a private home in Australia?
Yes. The exact postcode, carton or pallet size, access conditions and unloading requirements must be checked before booking.
Is business address delivery cheaper than residential delivery?
It can be, especially when the business has a forklift, loading dock and normal receiving hours. The final cost still depends on postcode and cargo dimensions.
What is a tail-lift delivery?
A tail-lift vehicle uses a hydraulic platform to lower a pallet or heavy cargo from the truck when the receiver has no loading dock or forklift.
Do regional and remote postcodes cost more?
They may attract additional linehaul or remote-area charges. Provide the exact postcode for confirmation.
Does the recipient need to be present?
For many freight deliveries, a receiving contact and signature are required. Appointment or authority-to-leave options depend on the carrier and shipment type.
